In a bizarre partnership that defies traditional predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering free extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Adventure Uncovered

According to the formal release, "A strange encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of prohibited rituals and monstrous changes echo through the shadows." The plot introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a secret group.

The adventure centers on "strange trials and a fearsome foe" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Iconic Locations and Transformations

The trailer showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser ends with a powerful scene showing a character, likely the hostage, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Bonus Content

Players who finish the mission will acquire an unique katana alongside several objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique arms
• Survey Corps vehicle

Latest Free Story Addition

This patch also brings the game's latest free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic abilities: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

The series previously showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
