Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a challenging season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since spring of that year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour victory, gained dominance to force a decider.

He defended four early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he earned the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
