Sam Fender has handed over the complete sum of his £25,000 award cash to the MVT, which functions to protect the Britain's small music venues.
He was awarded the cheque on October 16 as his latest record his work was chosen as the top album of the last 12 months.
The musician has chosen to hand the money over to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the crucial part small stages fulfilled in his beginning days.
"I couldn't be pursuing what I am doing today if it wasn't for all the performances I did around the North East, and beyond, when I was starting out," remarked the artist. "These locations are legendary, but they are in difficulty."
Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these locations have ceased operations – approximately 16 percent of the total UK scene.
Recently, top acts such as the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the MVT in its efforts to support the industry, by including a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which supports local stages.
Sam Fender also joined in, raising in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to help numerous grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.
The donation helped venues that were confronting imminent closure due to difficulties arising from floods, blazes and personal losses, as well as permit problems, conflicts and sound issues.
Some locations received financial assistance in improving amenities and gear that helped musicians and fans.
"The concept that funds from concerts in major spaces helps the independent spots, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just common sense," the star has commented.
Fender is among several artists to contribute his honor prize money to charitable organizations.
In they won the prize in the mid-90s for their release the album, frontman Cocker stated that the band would give their cash to the non-profit War Child.
In 2002, rapper and singer the artist divided her award among a few charities, such as the children's charity and a Sickle Cell organization.
"Additionally, I contributed a grand to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I did gymnastics when I was younger and they lacked better apparatus," Ms Dynamite told the media.
In recent years, Ezra Collective contributed their winnings to the local youth club that nurtured their act, alongside other grassroots music organisations.
Also the 1994 recipients M People contributed their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a friend was identified with the illness.
"The victory was sufficient," stated vocalist the singer. "The money was the bonus but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the cake. So our victory touched somebody else's life."
In the past week, the MVT revealed it had rescued a couple of local spots in the South East, by placing them under local control.
The first in that area and the second in the city were acquired under the public acquisition initiative, which is funded by a national body and enthusiasts who buy "ownership units" in the buildings.
