It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

It needed up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

Many contend the case for the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in training, it was a frustrating experience because it seemed I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from there the batsman was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was out the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the confidence to do that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph coming after win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

However although she later admitted those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
